At Insitec Pty Ltd (“we”, “us” or “our”), we are committed to protecting your privacy and security. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, store, disclose and protect your information when you use the Perimeter Security mobile application("App"). We comply with the following privacy regulations:

  • Australian Privacy Principles (Privacy Act 1988)
  • General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for EU users
  • California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) for California residents
  • Apple App Store privacy requirements

1. Information We Collect

1.1. Location Information

  • Precise GPS coordinates (latitude and longitude)
  • Location accuracy measurements
  • Altitude and speed data
  • Timestamp of location readings
  • Location method used (GPS, network-based, Wi-Fi)

1.2. Device Information

  • Device identifiers (device ID, device model, manufacturer, operating system and other unique device identifiers)
  • Operating system version and build information
  • Network information (Wi-Fi SSID, signal strength when connected)
  • App usage data (transmission frequency, connection status, general app activity, logs, performance metrics)

1.3. Authentication Data

  • Username (created by user) used as a unique ID for your designated security service
  • Location service URL that you configure

1.4. Data We Do NOT Collect

  • Personal identifying information (name, email, phone number)
  • Photos, videos, or other media files
  • Contacts or calendar information
  • Financial or payment information

2. How We Use Your Information

2.1. Legal Basis for Processing

  • We process your personal data based on one or more of the following legal grounds (NB this approach is aligned to the GDPRs):
  • Consent – we process your data when you have given explicit consent for specific purposes (e.g. marketing communications etc). You may withdraw your consent at any time.
  • Contractual necessity – Processing is necessary for the performance of a contract with you (providing the requested services) or to take pre-contractual steps at your request/consent.
  • Legitimate interest (specifically fraud prevention or security) – We may process data based on our legitimate business interests (e.g. fraud prevention, network security, improving services), provided those interests do not override or impact your rights or freedoms.
  • Legal Compliance purposes – We process data where we are required to comply with any applicable laws and/or regulations.
  • Vital Interests – Processing may occur to protect someone’s life or their physical integrity (rare and typically only occurs in emergencies)
  • Public Task – If applicable, processing may be necessary for a task carried out in the public interest under official authority/direction.

2.2. Primary Purpose – Location Security

  • Transmit your real-time location to your designated security service
  • Ensure reliable communication between your device and security team
  • Provide accurate location data for emergency response

2.3. App Functionality

  • Monitor GPS signal quality and connection status
  • Optimise transmission intervals based on device performance
  • Troubleshoot connectivity issues
  • Other uses:
    • Provide/Maintain and improve the app
    • Respond to customer support requests
    • Comply with any legal obligations

2.4. We Do NOT Use Your Information For

  • Marketing or advertising purposes
  • Creating user profiles or analytics
  • Selling or monetising location data
  • Any purpose other than location security

3. Data Sharing and Transmission

3.1. Your Security Service

  • Location data is transmitted to the security service URL you configure
  • Data is sent using encrypted HTTPS connections
  • We store location data on our servers for a period of up to 24 hours in case your security service is unavailable.

3.2. No Third-Party Sharing

  • We do not share your information with advertisers, marketers, or data brokers
  • We do not use third-party analytics services that collect personal data
  • We do not integrate with social media platforms
  • Where mergers or acquisitions occur, there is potential for data to be transferred to other entities. If your data will be transferred as part of a merger or acquisition, we will provide you with adequate notice to enable you to make any necessary decisions pertaining to your data.

3.3. Legal Requirements

  • We may disclose information at any time if required by law enforcement with proper legal authority
  • However, since we only store location data for 24 hours, we have limited ability to provide historical information

4. Data Storage and Retention

4.1. What We Store

  • App configuration settings (location server URL, transmission intervals)
  • Device authentication tokens (stored locally on your device)
  • Temporary transmission logs (deleted within 7 days)
  • Location history - Location data is stored on our servers for 24 hours.

4.2. What We Do NOT Store

  • Personal communications or messages
  • Detailed usage analytics or behaviour patterns

4.3. Data Location

  • Configuration data is stored on secure servers in Microsoft Azure Cloud – Australia East Region.
  • Local device data remains on your device

5. Data Security

5.1. Transmission Security

  • All data is transmitted using TLS/SSL encryption
  • Authentication credentials are encrypted using industry-standard methods
  • Direct device-to-server communication with no intermediary storage

5.2. Device Security

  • Location access requires explicit user permission
  • App can be disabled or uninstalled at any time
  • No background location monitoriing without active user consent

5.3. Limitations

  • No internet transmission is 100% secure
  • Users should ensure their security service provider has adequate security measures
  • Device security depends on your device's security settings

6. Your Rights and Controls

All users have the following rights:

6.1. Location Control
Regarding your location data, you have the right to:
  • Grant or revoke location permissions at any time through device settings
  • Start or stop transmission using the app's toggle switch
  • Modify transmission frequency through app settings
  • Change or remove security service URL at any time

6.2. Data Control

From a general data control perspective, you have the right to:
  • Request access to any stored data
  • Requesting a copy of data held by us
  • Request deletion of any stored data
  • Export your settings for backup purposes
  • Contact us with questions about your data
  • Request restriction of processing
  • Object to automated decision making
  • Request information on what data is collected
  • Opt out of data sales (NB: this does not occur)
  • Non-discrimination for exercising any of your privacy rights

6.3. Withdrawal of Consent

Regarding withdrawal of your consent, you have the right to:
  • Disable location services for the app in device settings
  • Opting out of communications from the app
  • Uninstall the app to completely stop all data collection
  • Contact us to delete any stored account information


7. Children's Privacy

This app is not intended for users under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information to us, please contact us immediately.

8. International Data Transfers

If you are located outside of Australia, your information may be transferred to and processed in Australia. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for international transfers in compliance with applicable privacy laws.

9. Notifiable Data Breaches

9.1. Australian Users

Insitec Pty Ltd is an APP entity for the purposes of the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). If a data breach were to occur, we will notify all affected parties as per the requirements set out under the Notifiable Data Breach (NDB) Scheme.

9.2. US Users

For any US users, if any personal data is subject to a breach, you will be notified as soon as possible via your state’s specified notification avenue. If state authorities require notification they will be notified within the legislated timeframes.

9.3. EU Users

For any EU users, we will notify the relevant supervisory authority within 72 hours and inform any affected individuals as soon as possible of any breach if it poses a high risk to your rights or freedoms. This notification will be managed through the application, or via public notice if direct contact is impractical.

9.4. Data Breach Response

We maintain systems and processes for robust protection of our customer and client data and can quickly assess, contain and mitigate the effects of breaches.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. We will:

  • Post the updated policy in the app and on our website
  • Notify users of any material changes through the app
  • Require renewed consent for any expanded data collection

12. Consent and Agreement

By installing and using the Perimeter app:

  • You consent to the collection and use of information as described in this policy
  • You confirm you are 18 years of age or older
  • You understand that location data will be transmitted to your designated security service
  • You acknowledge the security limitations of internet-based transmission
